NRF Partners with SOS Thailand to Continue Soul Kitchen by NRF for a Second Consecutive Year Providing Quality Meals and Reducing Food Loss and Waste

NR Instant Produce Public Company Limited (NRF), in partnership with the Scholars of Sustenance Foundation Thailand (SOS Thailand), continues its Soul Kitchen by NRF initiative for a second consecutive year. The fifth activity brought together surplus food that remained in good condition and was safe for consumption with additional ingredients to prepare nutritious meals for residents of the Khlong Lat Phachi community and older adults at Bang Khae 2 Elderly Care Home. Mr. Paul Pathomvanich, Business Development Manager of NRF, participated in the activity alongside NRF employees, reflecting NRF’s commitment to reducing food loss and waste while promoting equitable access to quality food for communities and older adults.

The Soul Kitchen initiative aims to create value from food resources through collaboration among NRF team members, SOS Thailand staff, and volunteer cooks from the community. Together, they prepare meals, from ingredient preparation through to meal distribution to community members and older adults. The initiative prioritizes the safe reuse of surplus food that remains suitable for consumption rather than allowing it to go to waste. This approach not only helps reduce the loss of valuable food resources but also expands access to meals for people in society who need support.

In addition to preparing and distributing meals, NRF team members learned about the Khlong Lat Phachi community’s resource and environmental management practices, which demonstrate how community collaboration can support tangible environmental improvements. One example is the “Shared Vegetable Pantry,” which uses public space to grow vegetables for meal preparation and sharing with residents. The community also operates a recyclable waste bank that promotes waste sorting at source, recycling, and the recovery of organic waste for beneficial uses, such as biofertilizer production. These initiatives align with the principles of reducing waste at source and making efficient use of resources.

Learning from and exchanging experiences with the community broadened the scope of Soul Kitchen by NRF beyond meal distribution by connecting food loss reduction with resource management and community participation. This experience highlights the importance of collaboration among the business sector, civil society organizations, and local communities in raising environmental awareness and promoting responsible resource use.

NRF remains committed to social initiatives that benefit people and communities. Continuing Soul Kitchen by NRF for a second consecutive year reflects the company’s commitment to creating shared social and environmental value through its partnership with SOS Thailand. By helping reduce food loss and waste, promoting equitable access to quality meals, and encouraging community participation, the initiative supports a sharing-oriented society while promoting responsible and sustainable resource use.
